Sometimes I have plenty of time for reading, another time it took me several weeks to finish a book. Either way, I always have a current book to read (and myriads of unread at my bookshelf, kindle reader and watchlist ). I also think it's worth sharing and dicussing about books, to suggest and attract attention to the personal favorites.
If you have a favorite author or genre you often look/search at the same direction for new books. There is the big chance to overlook really good literatur. Some of the best I read I found accidently or due to a random suggestion from a friend. That's the main reason I'm starting with 'Literary Spotlight', to spend a word or two about the book I recently finished reading. Maybe one of them will be your favorite, too? I'll add some dA art to underline the atmosphere and nature of the book I felt during reading.
Book: Elleander Morning
Author: Jerry Yulsman
Genre: Science fiction / Alternate history
Publication date: 1984
Pages: 308
Personal rating: 7.9/10
Elleander Morning is the debut novel from Jerry Yulsman. The protagonist Elleander Morning travels back in time to kill the young Adolf Hitler already in Vienna of 1913. 60 years later her granddaughter discovers two volumes of the "Time Life" magazine about The Second World War. She's really confused about this, because a war called WW II never happened... this is the starting point of an interesting alternative history novel, which plays in a very familiar but at the same time very different world. The novel won the australian Ditmar Award in 1986 and the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis in 1987.
Some miscellaneous information: The first alternate history story I read was 'Fatherland' from Robert Harris (It's too long ago to rate it meaningfully). Besides this book, I only remember 'The Man in the High Castle' from Philip K. Dick, which has at least a backround in alternate history (spontaneous rating 8.5/10 ). Since reading a lot of fantasy, science fiction and dystopian book recently, it was very refreshing to get back to this genre. I like it very much, when facts and fiction are mixed together to something new. I think, I'll keep on reading books of this genre in the near future.
Please let me know if you read this book too and how you liked it. Also, I'm always looking forward for book suggestions.

New photographs coming soon.
The last months were very busy for me. I didn't had much time to take nor process photographs.
But this June I went on my wedding journey. It was a cruise from Hamburg over Scotland, Orkney Islands, Iceland, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia to Maine, Boston and finally New York. It was marvellous and I'll try to upload some photographs over the next weeks!
Take care!

Few days ago I received my 200th Watch
I want to celebrate with you, and here's the 100-200th watchers feature. It was a tough choice, but I managed to select one deviation from everyone .
Further, I want to saythat I'm very glad about your continuous support. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to thank you for each of your , but this doesn't mean that I don't appreciate every single one. If I have time, I'll try to browse your gallery to look at your art! I think the time used for this is an better investment instead writing on you pinboard.
Let's have a look at these wonderful artworks:

Experience with extension tubes?
Do you have experience with extension tubes/rings?
I bought a set of 3 extension tubes for my Canon 700D to have a cheap way to enter the macro world. My first impressions are: Light, where is all the light? and what a small depth of field... wow.
If I use the tubes with my Canon 50mm lens the quality of the images is quite ok, but I have to get so close to the object that I sometimes touch the object with the lens. Didn't dare to photograph any insects with it . Otherwise, if I use my 55-250mm tele lens I can keep a distance of 30-40cm from the object but I lose a lot more of light using this lens, so I'm forced to sacrifice image qua
