Sometimes I have plenty of time for reading, another time it took me several weeks to finish a book. Either way, I always have a current book to read (and myriads of unread at my bookshelf, kindle reader and watchlist). I also think it's worth sharing and dicussing about books, to suggest and attract attention to the personal favorites.
If you have a favorite author or genre you often look/search at the same direction for new books. There is the big chance to overlook really good literatur. Some of the best I read I found accidently or due to a random suggestion from a friend. That's the main reason I'm starting with 'Literary Spotlight', to spend a word or two about the book I recently finished reading. Maybe one of them will be your favorite, too? I'll add some dA art to underline the atmosphere and nature of the book I felt during reading.
Book: Improbable
Author: Adam Fawer
Genre: Thriller/Suspense/Espionage
Publication date: 2006
Pages: 464
Personal rating: 8.4/10
A colleague recommended this book to me. We both have a scientific background. That’s why it was very entertaining for me to read this book It starts in the first chapters with a very brief recapitulation about how stochastics works. Later terms like ‘Schödinger’s Cat’ or ‘Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle’ appear and delighted me. Don’t be afraid! It’s not a schoolbook to teach you math and physics! It’s a very thrilling espionage well mixed with (good and easy explained) scientific background. I enjoyed it a lot.
Amazon summarizes it very well, that's why I’ll skip my own summary this time. Have a look:

Michael Crichton meets A Beautiful Mind in this thinking man's thriller based on probability theory and quantum physics. David Caine's life is spinning out of control. A compulsive gambler who can't work because he's plagued by epileptic seizures, Caine's dropped out of normal society, opting instead to spend his nights trolling Manhattan's underground poker clubs. A mathematical genius, Caine wins more than he loses - that is, until one night when he makes a miscalculation that costs him money he doesn't have - right before experiencing his most powerful seizure ever. So he agrees to try an experimental drug to control the seizures. Shortly after he takes the yellow pill, he finds himself at a diner with friends where he envisions a truck coming through the window and killing them all. Confused and disbelieving, he nonetheless gets his friends out of harms way in the nick of time. From that moment his life is changed. Unsure whether he has gained the gift of second sight or is merely losing his mind, Caine embarks on a journey that stretches beyond the realm of what he has always thought of as possible into world that can only be described as...IMPROBABLE.

New photographs coming soon.
The last months were very busy for me. I didn't had much time to take nor process photographs.
But this June I went on my wedding journey. It was a cruise from Hamburg over Scotland, Orkney Islands, Iceland, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia to Maine, Boston and finally New York. It was marvellous and I'll try to upload some photographs over the next weeks!
Take care!

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to thank you for each of your , but this doesn't mean that I don't appreciate every single one. If I have time, I'll try to browse your gallery to look at your art! I think the time used for this is an better investment instead writing on you pinboard.

Experience with extension tubes?
Do you have experience with extension tubes/rings?
I bought a set of 3 extension tubes for my Canon 700D to have a cheap way to enter the macro world. My first impressions are: Light, where is all the light? and what a small depth of field... wow.
If I use the tubes with my Canon 50mm lens the quality of the images is quite ok, but I have to get so close to the object that I sometimes touch the object with the lens. Didn't dare to photograph any insects with it . Otherwise, if I use my 55-250mm tele lens I can keep a distance of 30-40cm from the object but I lose a lot more of light using this lens, so I'm forced to sacrifice image qua
